The most recent portrait that I completed was of my brother-in-law, Ronnie, who passed away last year. Working on his portrait was very emotional for me. While creating it, I reflected on all the good times we had together over the years.
Knowing that this portrait would be viewed by his wife Jane (my sister-in-law) every day gave me even more drive to capture his personality. What helped me with Ronnie's expression is that in addition to the photograph I based my portrait on, I had my memories of him, but also had many photos to refer to allowing me to capture every detail. This was a very emotional piece for me, and I completely embrace the process of creating a likeness of your loved ones.
