I've been drawing my entire life. My grandfather was an artist and art, thankfully, just came naturally for me. I studied at Massachusetts College of Art and my passion is creating portraits. I love drawing the tiny details of what I see while capturing the casual, general feel of everyday life. I pull inspiration from classic artists such as Caravaggio and Goya, but Norman Rockwell is my idol. The way he captures a person's soul nestled in a slice of Americana continues to amaze and motivate me.
A portrait is brought to life through the eyes... I love capturing the eyes. The most rewarding experience as a portrait artist is to deliver art that evokes emotion. This is only possible by my ability to nail the eyes of my subject.
It's no secret I'm a Boston sports fan. Like, big time... (GO RED SOX, PATRIOTS, BRUINS & CELTICS!) So much so, I'm often found sketching sports personalities and memorabilia for my own personal collection. My passion for sports gives me a unique ability to create special collage portraits that include reference images of both close-ups and action sports photography which I arrange into one drawing. Parents and grandparents often commission me to create a super cool collage portrait highlighting someone's school sports career intregated into a detailed face portrait.
I live in Walpole, Massachusetts with my wife Jill, our son Henry Jr. and our two fluffy and fun cats.
I look forward to working with you to create an original portrait for you to love and cherish. Please visit my contact page where you can ask me questions about my art and commission work.
